About Cornerstone Baptist Church, Trenton Texas
CORNERSTONE BAPTIST CHURCH officially began on February 20, 2005, because a young couple, Shawn and Jennifer Wilkerson, followed the leading of the Lord to start a new work in Fannin County. Cornerstone held her first meeting in a warehouse in Trenton, Texas.
As the doors opened on that first Sunday morning, no one knew for sure just how many people would be present. Yet, when the benediction was given, there were 55 men, women, and children who walked out that morning excited about what God was going to do in and through this new congregation. Sixty-five returned for the evening service. On the final day to become a “charter member” of Cornerstone, the church registered 7 baptisms, 106 church members, with a total of 45 families.
The excitement still continues at CBC. As we began, we thought the best foundation to lay for a new congregation was to undertake a church-wide study of Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God by Henry Blackaby. That is the desire of this congregation—to know and do the will of God. We believe it’s all about Him and not about us. We want to do it His way and not our way. We have no desire to be a typical, run-of-the-mill Baptist Church. We pray others will see something that could only be of God!
We are a mission-minded congregation, sharing the Gospel locally and globally. Within the first six months of our existence, thirteen were baptized, one teenage girl went on mission to Honduras, and seven adults shared the Gospel in Zimbabwe, with nearly 10,000 souls being saved.
Our goal is to teach the Bible in a relevant, practical, and life-changing way, whether it is during the Sunday School hour or the worship time. When you leave each and every service, we pray you will have encountered the true and living God, the One who loves you so much He gave His Only Begotten Son to die for you. Check us out. Send us an e-mail. Give us a call. We’d like to tell you more.
We’re reaching out and looking up!
